Why do you procrastinate?
If we procrastinate, that's because we don't care enough about our work, right?
I wish it were that easy.
It's possible that our procrastination comes from not caring (enough). After all, it is much easier to take action when we're excited. Caring helps.
But it's possible to procrastinate despite caring very much. For example, we might procrastinate because:
- We have a fear of failure
- We work in a distracting environment so we cannot focus
- We are addicted to social media and messaging and cannot push through the resistance that comes with starting work
- We have not organized our projects, so we do not know where to start
The trick is to know which cause is behind our procrastination. "Caring more" is not always the solution.
We should also keep in mind that there is a fine line between procrastination and taking useful breaks.
Tell me about your struggles with procrastination. What does it look like when you procrastinate?
Yours,
— Peter
