Stop running on autopilot; wake up!
How often do you find yourself glowing with joy?
You attended an event, you met with someone, or you did a thing. Now you're on your way home and you're beaming.
The world seems amazing. Your life seems amazing. All your problems suddenly seem insignificant.
If you rarely have such experiences, maybe it's because you're not doing anything that truly excites you. Maybe it's because you're running your life on autopilot. And the autopilot has you doing whatever is normal, whatever most other people are doing. But there's a good chance that doing what everybody else is doing won't make you glow with joy.
Quick, tell me your top three values. The three things that are most important to you. Do you know?
If you don't, discovering what you value is a great place to start.
Let me ask you some more questions.
Why are you with your significant other? Why do you have the friends you do? Why do you do the work that you do?
Can you answer these questions by referring to your values? Can you go deeper than "she's nice to me", "I like to go drinking with them", and "the job pays well"?
If not, you have some work to do. Let's talk.
Yours,
— Peter
