Time to get organized?
Whenever someone enrolls in one of my courses, I ask them to briefly introduce themselves. You know, what’s your name and what do you do?
Many of my students are attorneys, small business owners, scientists: people with jobs or with their own business. But a substantial percentage of my students answers differently:
“Hey Peter. This might surprise you because you probably get lots of working professionals, but I enrolled in your course because I recently retired! Now that I’m no longer working, I’m finally taking time to get organized…”
You can almost feel the 😅 emoji in their writing.
I thoroughly enjoy receiving these emails. It’s never too late to get organized!
And recently retired people often have the best plans. Many retired students have told me they’re finally moving to that area they’ve always wanted to live in or are finally making time for volunteering. In fact, I often hear that these people are busier in retirement, which is why they now really, really need to get organized!
But… there is a “but”.
Many of my awesome older students also say they wish they had taken one of my courses much earlier. It would have made their work life a lot easier. It would have made it a lot less stressful.
And who knows—maybe they could even have retired and moved to a sunny place a little earlier…
