If you’re serious about getting better…

December 18, 2022

If you’re serious about getting better, you need help from other people.

Athletes have coaches. Politicians have staff. And business leaders have mentors. Do you think Messi and Mbappé got this good by practicing alone at home?

You can improve on your own, up to a point. If you dedicate enough time and energy to it and if you’re smart about it, you can get a lot better without others to guide you or offer you feedback. But you’ll never make it all the way to the top and it’ll be needlessly difficult.

In this sense, your personal productivity is no different than sports, politics, or business. Sure, you need to put in the effort. But you’ll improve faster and you’ll go further when you get help.
