What’s your minimum viable income?

May 3, 2018

If you really want to pursue that dream, why don’t you?

I understand that you might worry about running out of money.

Without your cushy corporate job and its monthly paycheck, how will you find money to live? Climbing mountains or sailing the seas full time will probably not earn you much.

There are plenty of ways to generate passive income to pay for your dream, but we need to figure something out first:

How much money do you need to make your dream happen?

Not happen in the most comfortable way, eating luxuriously and flying business class around the world. But happen at all.

This amount is called the minimum viable income (MVI) that you need to fund your dream.

Chances are, you’re spending quite a bit of money today on things you won’t need when you pursue your dream. Things like a nice car, fancy home electronics, an expensive apartment, and eating out regularly.

So before we talk about how to pay for your dreams, you need to figure out your MVI. How low can you go?

Yours,

— Peter

P.S. If you have absolutely no idea, I suggest creating a budget for your current lifestyle. For that, I recommend the You Need a Budget (YNAB) app.
