It’s okay to not have things figured out

I’m not sure why, but I often notice myself assuming that everybody but me has things figured out.

Everybody else can handle stressful situations well; it’s just that I can’t. Nobody else feels like a wreck when they don’t sleep enough; only I do.

But this isn’t true. Nobody entirely has their shit together, even if it seems that way.

And you know what? That’s fine. It’s okay to not have things figured out.

In fact, many people will appreciate it when you honestly share what you’re still figuring out. When you do, you make yourself vulnerable, which is a great way to connect with others.

One way to share what you’re still figuring out is to learn publicly. If there’s something you’re working on, or something you’re learning, tell others about it. Write about it. Invite feedback.

In fact, I’ll do that right now.

I want to help you work in a healthy way. I spent quite some time working in a very unhealthy way and I don’t want to see that happen to you, or to anyone else. So I write to share what I know.

But not everything is helpful to you. So tell me: would you find it useful if I wrote more specific articles, like “what to do when it gets crazy busy at work”?

If not, that’s cool. I’m still figuring out how to do this.
