Make 2021 your most productive year ever

Join the five-week live program. Next edition: January and February 2021.

Does this sound familiar?

  • You have big goals, but you’re not achieving them
  • You have trouble keeping your commitments (to yourself or to others)
  • You are on an endless treadmill of day-to-day work
  • You have trouble making time for the work that really matters
  • You feel stuck and overwhelmed

If so, you’re in the right place.

2020 has been an eventful year and not in a good way. But 2020 is coming to a close. So let’s hit the reset button.

Let’s make 2021 your most productive year ever.

To make that happen, I created a five-week live course. In this live course—or live program—you’ll learn a full productivity workflow and system that’s designed to help you (1) stay on top of your day-to-day tasks and (2) achieve your goals.

The course is called Big-Picture Productivity. Let me tell you about it.

“After taking Peter’s course, I realised that I had far more control over my own goals and schedule than I thought. I learned how to translate my goals into actionable tasks. And the worksheets are a gold mine!”

Imagine feeling in control and being on your way to achieving your goals

Take a moment and picture this.

  • You’re making consistent progress towards your goals.
  • You’re keeping your commitments to yourself and to others.
  • You’re on top of your day-to-day responsibilities.
  • You prioritize the work that really matters to you.
  • You feel in control.

This can be your reality in 2021.

“BPP significantly changed my viewpoint of productivity. I no longer obsess over getting the most tasks done, but I feel a much deeper sense of purpose and satisfaction as I complete tasks in key projects that help me reach my bigger goals.”

How the five-week course works

Big-Picture Productivity is a five-week live course. It runs from January 9, 2021 through February 13, 2021. The course is divided into five modules, so we’ll cover one module per week.

The course includes live group calls on Zoom, workbooks with exercises, and a private discussion forum. Optionally, you can get direct, one-on-one access to me, your instructor.

It’s all designed to make 2021 your most productive year ever.

Live group calls on Zoom

There will be two types of live group calls on Zoom: teaching calls and office hours. There will be 11 group calls in total. All calls will be recorded and recordings will be available soon after each call. View the live call schedule.

The teaching calls will start with a teaching segment. For example, I will explain concepts with slides or demonstrate implementation in a task manager. After teaching, I’ll open the session up for Q&A. And I’ll make the slides available after each call, for you to refer back to, or to go through in case you couldn’t make the call.

During office hours, you can ask me anything. They are also great opportunities to review the work that you did in the course exercises. For example, after the teaching session on clarifying your goals and commitments, you can do the goal-setting exercises. Then, you can share your list of goals with me on the next office hours call and I will help you sharpen them.

You can join an office hours call and ask your question live, or you can send me your questions beforehand and I will answer them on the call. If you choose the latter option, you can watch my answer in the recording.

The program includes 11 live group sessions on Zoom.

workbooks and lesson slides

I believe that theory + action = results. That’s why the course comes with lesson slides (theory) and workbooks (action). They are divided into five modules: one module per week.

The workbooks come with various types of exercises on topics such as:

  • Evaluating potential commitments
  • Building better habits
  • Using project-based thinking to act on your goals
  • Planning for a successful quarter
  • Identifying and prioritizing your deep work

(This is just a small selection of exercises.)

The course has lots of practical exercises to make 2021 your most productive year ever.

Private student community

When you enroll, you immediately get access to the Big-Picture Productivity community, which is a private discussion forum.

The community has been up and running for a while, with some of my students from previous courses. I hang out in the community as well. Of course, the people doing the live program with you will also join the community. During the course, the community will be a great way for you to connect with your fellow students.

The community is a great space for sharing productivity insights.

Your fellow students are also a fantastic resource for helping you become Big-Picture Productive. You’ll get access to the community immediately after you enroll, so you can introduce yourself and get to know people. During the program, I’ll invite you to keep a progress log, to share your challenges and your wins with the community.

Keeping a progress log on the community will help keep you accountable.

Premium Edition: one-on-one access to Peter

If you enroll in the premium edition, you get one-on-one access to me throughout the program, so from January 9 through February 13.

To communicate, we’ll use Voxer, a voice messaging app that works like a walkie-talkie. You install Voxer on your phone, you press the button, and you talk. It’s dead simple. I’ll respond within 24 hours, also by voice message.

With the premium edition, you also get a 60-minute one-on-one Zoom call, during which you can ask me anything you like. For example, we can thoroughly review your plan for the next quarter. Or, we can clarify what is your most important work and make a plan for prioritizing it.

five modules: One per week

The course includes five modules. Each module has a live teaching session and a workbook. You can refer back to the materials at any time, even after the live program has finished.

Module 1: Creating Space & Structure

  • Freeing up space with a brain sweep
  • Organizing your life into areas & roles
  • Developing a healthy new habit of your choice
  • Starting a progress log for extra motivation

Module 2: Clarifying Your Goals & Commitments

  • Setting clear goals & commitments
  • Understanding the “why” behind them
  • Organizing and tracking your goals & commitments
  • Evaluating potential commitments

Module 3: Translating Your Goals & Commitments into Action

  • Setting up a task manager
  • Creating actionable projects
  • Identifying and tracking your key projects
  • Choosing what to work on today

Module 4: Prioritizing your deep work

  • Identifying what is your “deep work”
  • Making time for your deep work
  • Focusing on what matters
  • Handling work that’s hard to break down into lists

Module 5: Planning ahead

  • Planning for a successful quarter
  • Planning and reviewing your week
  • Saving time with project templates

Module 1: Creating Space & Structure (Jan. 9–15)

We’ll start the course with a brain sweep to free up mental space. That will make sure that you’ve got the time and the energy to get the most out of the course. We will also do a simple exercise to uncover patterns in your current habits and behavior.

Next, we’ll organize your life into areas and roles, so that we’ll have a structure to work with as we set goals later. We’ll also set you up for success in 2021 by developing a new, healthy habit of your choice. And we’ll get you set up with a progress log, which will motivate you to keep going.

Module 2: Clarifying Your Goals & Commitments (Jan. 16–22)

After creating space and structure, we will clarify your big goals as well as your existing and ongoing commitments.

To do this, we’ll go over the different types of goals you may have. You’ll learn how to formulate useful goals, focusing on input rather than output. We’ll distinguish between internal and external commitments so you can keep your promises to yourself and others. You’ll learn how to evaluate potential commitments so you don’t chronically overcommit yourself. And we’ll organize your goals and commitments into the areas we identified in module 1, for a big-picture overview of your life.

Module 3: Translating Your Goals & Commitments into Action (Jan. 23–29)

It’s important to have a sense of direction—that’s why modules 1 and 2 are about creating space, creating structure, and clarifying your goals and commitments. But it’s equally important to take action so you’re moving in the direction you want to go. That’s what module 3 is for.

In module 3, you’ll set up a task manager, if you’re not using one already. Or, we’ll adjust your setup to match the organization we developed in modules 1 and 2. We’ll cover using projects to act on your goals—and I can’t emphasize enough how powerful it is to think in terms of projects. You’ll learn how to use project-thinking to develop better habits, which can make a massive difference in your life over time. And you’ll learn how to consistently have productive days, even if the circumstances aren’t perfect.

Module 4: Prioritizing Your Deep Work (Jan. 30 – Feb. 6)

As we’ve said, it makes little sense to measure your productivity by the number of tasks you check off of your to-do lists. Instead, you want to consider whether you’re achieving your goals while meeting your existing and ongoing commitments. And achieving your goals require doing your deep work: the work that matters the most, that adds the most value.

So in module 4, we’ll start by identifying your deep work. After all, it’s hard to prioritize something when you don’t know what it is. You’ll learn how to make time to dig in to your deep work and how to create the conditions for focus. We’ll cover managing work that isn’t list-based, such as creative pursuits and building healthy habits. You’ll also learn to sidestep perfectionism by clarifying what is “good enough”, so you don’t get stuck.

Module 5: Planning Ahead (Feb. 7–13)

It’s great to get results once or twice, but to achieve your goals and realize your dreams, you need to be consistent. And that requires planning ahead.

That’s why, in the final module, you’ll learn a quarterly planning workflow. In quarterly planning, you’ll make time for projects that will help you achieve your goals while you continue to meet your ongoing commitments. You’ll also learn how to consistently execute weekly reviews, making sure that you’re on top of your responsibilities. All so you can keep it up after the program is done, for lasting success.

Your instructor

Hi, I’m Peter Akkies.

A few years ago, I wrote a blog post on how I used my task manager. That post blew up. So I decided to teach productivity in a more structured way. Today, I’ve taught over 1,000 happy students.

I’m also into scuba diving, Formula 1, the Philadelphia Eagles, World War II history, and veganism.

This course is for you if:

  • You want 2021 to be your most productive year ever
  • You don’t follow through on your plans
  • You aren’t making progress on your goals
  • You struggle to keep your commitments
  • You want to focus on what really matters

This course is not for you if:

  • You’re looking for a magic solution that requires zero effort
  • You’ve got things figured out already
  • You’re not up for trying a new method
  • You just want to kick the tires on the program without putting in the work

Frequently asked questions

Q: Do I need to use specific apps?

No, you don’t need to use any specific apps.

You will need to use a task manager, but the course does not require you to use a particular one. And it doesn’t matter whether you’re new to task managers or whether you’re a seasoned user—I’ll explain everything.

That said, I recommend using Things 3, OmniFocus, or Nirvana. Should you use a different task manager (e.g. Todoist), you’ll have to translate the task manager-specific bits of the course to your app of choice. I might not be able to help you with that.

Q: What if I can’t make it to a live session?

I will record every session and make recordings available soon after the session. Most teaching will come in the form of pre-recorded lessons; live sessions will be to give students feedback on their work, for Q&A, and for reinforcing certain concepts.

If you can’t make it to a call, you are welcome to send me questions ahead of time for me to answer on the call, so you can watch me answer your question in the recording.

Also, a key component of the live program is the group discussion forum, where everyone in the group will hang out, share their progress, exchange ideas, etc. I will be in the discussion forum too, so you can always reach me that way.

Q: What support can I get?

This is a live program and key components of the live program are the private student discussion forums and the group calls on Zoom. I encourage you to share your progress and ask your questions on the forums and/or on the calls. I’ll be there to help you out. If a comment is specific to a course lesson, you can also leave a comment on the relevant lesson.

If you enroll in the premium edition, you and I will have a 60-minute one-on-one Zoom call. You will also get direct access to me through a voice messaging app for the duration of the program.

Q: How much time do I need for the course?

I suggest putting aside a couple of hours a week to work through the pre-recorded lessons and workbooks. If you do that, you’ll stay on track.

That said, if you find yourself having less time, that’s all right. You can continue to access the course materials after the live program ends, and the live session recordings will stay up, so you can go at the speed that works for you.

Q: When can I access the course materials?

The pre-recorded lessons and the workbooks will be available when the program starts, on January 9.

Each week’s module will be available right after the previous week’s call. So the Module 1 materials will be up on January 9, the Module 2 materials will be up on January 16, and so on. And the course materials will stay up even after the live program closes, so you can refer back to the materials whenever you like.

Also, when you enroll, there will be an optional pre-course exercise. So you could get started on that right away!

Q: Do I need to have taken your other courses?

No, you don’t need to have taken any of my other courses.

If you have already taken one of my other courses, you’ll find that this course includes some familiar concepts related to task management, but that we take a big-picture approach. Task management remains the foundation, but we’ll go way beyond that to make 2021 your most productive year ever, with you reaching your goals and keeping your commitments.

Q: Do you offer a payment plan?

I do not offer a payment plan. I love to support my students, but I don’t want to establish a creditor-debtor relationship with you.

Q: Can I get a discount?

There is an early-bird discount in the first week of enrollment. Enroll by December 5 to take advantage of it. There is also a discount for people who enrolled in the legacy version of the course. Other than that, I do not offer discounts.

Q: What’s your refund policy?

If you aren’t happy after our kick-off call, just let me know and I’ll refund your purchase in full, no questions asked.

You can request a refund until the end of the day we have the kick-off call (January 9, 2021). After that day, there are no refunds.

This is because I want you to have “skin in the game”. Please enroll because you are committed to applying the lessons to create real, positive changes in your life. I want you to get the best results—and you’ll get the best results if you enroll with a genuine commitment.

To buy this course without an indefinite money-back guarantee, you must trust yourself to follow through and trust me. If you’re not sure, or if you need an indefinite money-back guarantee to be convinced, then I suggest you enjoy my free material on and on YouTube.

Note that you can repeat this course as often as you like, going through the materials and watching the live session recordings, for years to come. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to extract abundant value from your investment.

So, are you in?

What Students say…

Big-Picture Productivity is a brand-new program. Here’s what students have said about my other courses:
Kirill Eremenko headshot
Kirill Eremenko
“Peter’s course is life-changing. He has a vision: ‘I want you to be productive, but not overwhelmed’. And it shows throughout the course that he cares.”
Violet Pidgorna
“I went from 50% productivity to 1000%. I finished my 2 University courses this August with A and A+ and at the same time launched 2 new products while still maintaining my business and its current products, all in one month!”
Paul Christy
“Managing 500 employees and a $40 million budget means I have a lot of projects and tasks. Thanks to Peter’s course I’m starting the week super-charged with my schedule and tasks lined up.”
Ashley Albeck
“Thank you so much!!! I am so excited to use OF! Your lessons were super easy to follow and you were amazing at teaching in detail but without making me feel dumb! Thank you!”
Robin Melancon
“Peter’s course was perfect for what I was looking to do! I was letting all the due dates sit and wasn’t sure what to focus on NEXT. Having a refresher was what I needed!”
Max Jimenez
“It’s only been a week since I bought Peter’s course and my life hasn’t felt this organized ever.”
Paul Everitt
“Peter’s course illustrated not just the OmniFocus Zen that I knew was there, but several other seriously impactful ways to work. Worth every penny. Exceptionally valuable.”
Nicki Lock
“I’m gaining more and more control of OmniFocus (and as a result, my days and my energy) after each lesson. In less than a week, I’m feeling more in control. And that’s after only getting through the first three sections of the course!”
Mark Hayes
“Peter’s course brought a couple of breakthrough moments for me that were quite literally life changing. I know that sounds dramatic, but when everything you do stems from this workflow system, and someone removes a clog from your system, it really is life changing.”
Angela Marshall
“After taking Peter’s course, I am coming into the new week with so much more clarity.”
Joakim Östlind
“I wish all my colleagues would take Peter’s course. Everyone can learn something and my life would be a lot easier if everyone around me was as organized as I am now 😁”
Neil Maxwell-Keys
“I’m massively more organised. I’d stopped using Omnifocus; it became a long list of tasks that was completely overwhelming. Peter’s course has brought organisation and structure to my life.”
